When I came to St. Maarten more than ten years
ago, the island was already known as the Culinary Capital of the
Caribbean. But to my surprise, I didn't find a restaurant specializing
in German food. That's when I decided to open the "Bavaria",
offering authentic German cooking
to the residents and visitors of St. Maarten.
Today the Bavaria is well established as an institution
for great food and beer in the booming Simpson Bay region of the
island. You will find a few international dishes on the menu as
well, because we Germans are usually rather cosmopolitan with our
palate and have integrated many Italian, Yugoslav and Mediterranian
recipes into our way of eating.
Or just come to the bar and let me pour you an original
German beer, slowly and carefully draughted into the mug to allow
for best taste - just the way we are doing it at home. A good Pils
needs at least two minutes until it can be served!
